This car represents Hassan in
Kite Runner because of several traits. To begin with, a car's purpose in life is to help people. This is just like Hassan, who is always helping Amir and cares more about Amir's health and safety than his own. Additionally, the car is broken in the front; one of the headlights is falling off. This represents Hassan's harelip - he is regarded as lower class than other cars, even though he still works perfectly fine. Furthermore, Hassan is known for his extreme loyalty. Much like Hassan, this car is loyal; it won't leave you or ever go off without you. Finally, Hassan is an overwhelmingly positive person, even in the face of adversity or hardship. This car is coloured yellow, which widely known as a symbol of positivity and happiness.
I liked the title of your post. I think that you can also connect this car to Sohrab because of many of the same reasons.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this metaphor because you described every part of the car and made the connection to how the broken headlight is a representation of his harelip. Another connection that could be made is that Amir is the driver. He brings Hassan on adventures but also uses Hassan and eventually abandons him for his own selfish reasons.

I liked that your metaphor was very creative. Another connection that could be made is that the car is driven by Amir. Hassan is fueled by the feelings and emotions that he has towards Amir which allows him to keep being loyal.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed how you were able to really connect every part of the car to a character aspect of Hassan! I think the car could also be used to represent Rahim Khan. Even though he is old and falling apart, he is very useful to Amir. Through his wit, he is the one who convinces Amir to go find Hassan's son.
