I’ve fallen in love with the stars.
they beckon me from their heavenly thrones,
miniscule pinpoints of light in the vast, inky darkness
an infinite, twinkling sky
but i’m stuck down here on the ground
head still up in the clouds
dreaming; day and night
of a life beyond my own
wishing I could dance among them,
soaring miles above my problems
to touch the light of the farthest star,
making friends with distant moons
will I ever come down?
return to the only world I’ve ever known?
up here, I feel so at home
lightyears away from where I began
there’s nothing I want more
than to escape the prison of this reality
even if for just one night
to go to the stars
to be free
I really enjoyed your poem. I could get the sense of you wanting to be free while reading it. I really liked when you used the word "inky." I think it was the perfect way to show a contrast between the stars and the night sky.
ReplyDeleteLEXI CRILLEY this is beautiful!! And the way you describe the stars and how you want to be there is so relatable. My favorite line is "making friends with distant moons" because it sounds really cool. 10/10
ReplyDeleteI like the third stanza and how you use imagery to describe your message.
