Ocean

Ocean

A place I remember
Cold and Empty
A place I spent my days and nights
Absent and Alone
The waves break there
Subsiding into a desolate
Deep Dark Blue
The water is still
The only movement
Your flailing body
Struggling,
Struggling to breathe
The heavy water
Calm and Inviting
Dragging your further into the place
The place
Where melancholy songs play in your ears
Repetition is the one comfort
So comforting against the capsizing somber
Until you call this place your home
Lost in the abyss of an ocean of your own making

  1. I really enjoyed how you used the ocean as an extended metaphor throughout the entire poem. I also liked the line "lost in the abyss of an ocean of your own making" which I think really explains the true meaning of the poem.
