A Drunk Nursery Rhyme

A Drunk Nursery Rhyme

If the cow jumped the moon
And the cat and the fiddle
Is the moon  made of cheese?
Who played the fiddle?

Hey, diddle diddle,
Can an animal speak?
Can a little dog laugh,
At the falling cow?

The tablewares’ escaping…
For fun, or from fear?
Where’s the food
It’s a famine

The beef, unbutchered
The milk turned cheese
The cat lost its chance
The dog’s dying wheeze

The dishes have shattered
The fiddle, fell
The fun, that’s enough
The party’s over
Now we all have a hangover.

  4. I really like your tone which was playful and bordered on sarcastic. It made your poem very fun to read. I liked the phrase "the dog's dying wheeze", and I'm not particularly sure why; it's just very pleasing, somehow, and fits with your poem. Very creative!

  5. I like how your poem is a twist on a nursery rhyme most of us probably know. It adds a kind of dark comedy which is really unique.
