Alive

A mundane sunrise arrives
as I breathe in the stale air
A taste of grey
No spice, no zest

And then she rises
a little dancer
Her youth beams
innocent eyes glowing
a promising future ahead

She ignites beside me
engulfed in passion
A spark of vitality
in a cloudy world
Blazing from within
Driven to compete
Succeed
Achieve

Her ferocious attack
Punctures my dull conscience
I can’t keep watching
As wasted moments
pass me by
As today becomes
a repetition of yesterday
As the world moves on without me

An epiphany
A revelation
A refreshed spirit
Emerge within me

I am racing
Burning
Rediscovering
A rosy glow
Flushed in my skin
The jade hue of adventure
Is reborn in my eyes

Living for today
Not for tomorrow

I am alive again.

  2. Super descriptive, structure was used well to pace the poem. My favorite line is 'Her youth beams' because it is really descriptive in a way that isn't just 'telling' the reader. This poem stands out as being very visual and having color.

  4. This is so cool because its like one of those poems we read in class where the meaning is layered beneath metaphors and other poetic devices. I really like the way you were able to paint an image in the readers mind as you go through the poem.
