An Inevitable Consequence

Life, is it bound by
fate?
Imagine, everything
orchestrated by a grand order.

Fate
scientifically justified.
Every action, moment of
“chance”
predetermined by molecular movement.
Your life, a list of
instructions that atoms plan out.
Fate has your future
your lifespan, your love life, your dying words written down
immutable.

Fate suggests
All of your failures
inevitable, out of your control.
Everyone better than you,
already dictated by fate.
You have no faults.

Fate asserts
All of your success
lucky, not of your own merit.
Undeserved.
Effort, hard work, even talent
a mere product of luck.
You have no self.

Fate
surmised by superstition, supported by science
Are such constructs really meant
to be followed?

  1. Your poem is very thoughtful, I loved "Fate / surmised by superstition, supported by science," I thought that was really well written and incredibly interesting.

  2. I think your poem is very deep and well written. I like the third stanza, because it shows how some people think of themselves and their accomplishments.

  3. I like the way you question fate at the end, and the way you build up this idea of fate tying everything together and taking away your identity and choices. My favorite line is where you said "you have no self" which kind of embodies that idea of fate removing personal identity and predetermining everything.
