The Balance in the Universe

From the morning of spring
To the night time of winter,
From the heat of the morning sun
To the cold breaths of night time’s moon

For harmony to exist
War must rage on,
To balance the forces
Of good and evil

The good questions itself,
The evil questions itself,
Are they the emotions created by humanity?
Are they only the ideas of judgment reflected by the eyes?

Both serve as a balance
A scale that forms the whole universe
Coexisting to add contrasts
Or else the world is a blank background

Good and evil
Balanced forces creating the contrast of colors
To fill the world with tint,
And to fill the world with shade

Good and evil
The reflection of humanity’s acts
Through the acts of kindness
And through the acts of violence

Good and evil
Complimentary terms that can’t exist without the other
Good, the absence of evil
And evil, the absence of good

  1. Repetition was a common theme throughout this poem, and created good contrasts. My favorite lines are the last two, because they kind of change the way you think about good and evil, and it is a nicely dramatic way to end the poem. Those last two lines stand out to me the most.

  3. One aspect of the poem that I liked was the repetition of the concepts of good and evil. My favorite line was "Coexisting to add contrasts" because it is a common theme. Another aspect of the poem which stood out to me was the way you used repetition and separating lines to illustrate contrast.
