Ever since
My brother learned
What arguing was,
He has argued
Against everything
I say.
Always “wanting”
the opposite
Even if it’s not what he
really wants.
And I try
I try to stay calm.
I try to agree
I try to be nice
I try to let him have his way.
But he never
agrees
to anything I say.
So eventually
I succumb
to the urge
to fight back.
I snap
And lash out
Until we’re having
A full-blown fight.
But I still try
I try to be the bigger person.
I try to agree.
I capitulate
And I try to make peace.

The structure of your poem is very engaging and helps the readers understand your feelings.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is super relatable for a lot of people since siblings all definitely feel this feeling. I especially liked the stanza where you repeated "I try" because it really shows your exasperation with the situation and conveys your emotions.
