I’m Sorry Earth

I’m sorry Earth
For the havoc we have wrecked
For the beauty we have tainted
For the injustices we have committed
Against you, our one and only true home

I’m sorry Earth
For jeopardizing your gleaming glory
and hiding your stunning sceneries
As if embarrassed by your breathtaking beauty
With mountains of waste and barrels of your prehistoric past.

I’m sorry Earth
For when warned of the torment you felt
We kept harvesting and burning too much
And saving too little to fulfill our superficial needs
Inflicting pain on the home we all cherish

I’m sorry Earth,
For the people throwing snowballs in the Senate
Ignoring and dismissing your reality as alternative fact
Pretending that you weren’t sick,
That you were fine and nothing was wrong,

I’m sorry Earth,
That there are a few, strong many
Silenced by those ignorant of
Something we all share,
Your uniqueness, beauty, and definition of existence.

  1. I really like this line: "As if embarrassed by your breathtaking beauty/ With mountains of waste and barrels of your prehistoric past" because it shows the priorities that humans have nowadays with not caring where our waste goes and being more focused on oil than on conserving the beautiful earth, the only earth.
