Silence
You can try to fill it with sounds:
By turning on the radio,
Or listening to music,
Or switching on the TV.
To me it will still be
Silence.
Until you turn off those distractions
And instead make a connection
With someone with their own ideas,
Their own opinions,
Their own thoughts
To me it will still be
Silence.
Silence can be defined as
The absence of sound,
Stillness
And stillness can only be broken by change
Change that will never come
If you remain within your own world
Alone and without conversation
Change only comes with the introduction
Of new ideas from new perspectives
Which aren’t going to come
From your favorite radio stations,
You favorite music,
And your favorite TV shows.

This seems to be something you feel strongly about. I like the repetition of words and how that builds intensity. "To me it will still be
ReplyDeleteSilence." I like that line it seemed to build a sense of intensity
I really enjoy how you used the repetition of "silence" at the end of each stanza to show how you still only hear silence due to the lack of true connection with people. My favorite line is "And stillness can only be broken by change". It really shows how for people and society to keep moving on, change needs to be brought through actions.
