The Balanced Scale in the Universe
Yet you fear the day,
you are friends with the night
the light so gentle,
the dark so rigid.
You refuse to become the water,
but instead, dance with the fire.
The water flowing,
and the fire crackling
Why don’t you seek happiness?
why let anger control you?
why stress over nothing
when you can focus on your mind?
Happiness overcomes stress and anger,
as water kills the fire,
as the night hides from the day.
Happiness is your friend,
you may not know that,
but emotions always stay true
Anger is your enemy,
You may know that,
but it always fed you lies
You stand in the middle
between a scale,
weighing the darkness and the light.
One is good
yet one is bad
you stand in the middle
but you are neither
You stand on the earth
with the sun and the moon on opposite ends
in the sky of day
with their own equal and opposite
Your happiness and anger,
the fire and the water,
the light and dark,
the sun and the moon
All in one scale of the universe,
where balance grows eternally.
I really like how you used fire and water and night and day to describe opposites. The water kills the fire and night hides from the day symbolism was really good.
ReplyDeleteI really like how right off the bat you use opposites almost in a way of comparing them. The line "...you stand in the middle but you are neither..." is really insightful, the whole poem has a great message.
ReplyDeleteHiya Jahn, the scale is a perfect way to demonstrate balance between things, which is a teaching of Taoism. Also, your continuous use of opposites illustrates the subject of balance well too.
