The greatest in the world
Are not the ones who control
The greatest in the world
Are the ones who submit
The greatest runner
Does not focus his thoughts
On the movement of his feet
Or the swinging of his arms
Or the location of his rivals
He clears his mind of all
And lets his body lead him
Like the runner,
The master does not focus his thoughts
On the Tao
Or his goals
Or his goodness
But instead yields to them
That is the way of the greatest

I really like the way that you compared a runner to the Tao and how you clear your mind and just yield to the Tao instead of focusing on it.
ReplyDeleteI like you used the metaphor of race to represent how the Tao affects us in our everyday lives. I also liked how you added a verse at the end talking about a general idea in Taoism.
