We have forgotten
What it means to be free;
From judgement, from stress,
From thought, from worry.
We have forgotten
What it means to let go;
To be like the water,
To feel the Master’s flow.
We have forgotten
Why balance is key;
Why the Yin and the Yang
Must live in harmony.
But there’s a way to remember:
A force called the Tao.
It flows through all things,
It’s in you right now!
If we soften our shells
And think through our hearts,
We can gather a whole
From all of our parts.
So be mindful, be calm,
Be kind without spite,
And the Tao might flow
through your window tonight.
I really like the "We have forgotten" repetition and how you lay out the main ideas of the Tao this way. I also liked how you organized the poem so that by the end you could write about ways to "remember".
ReplyDeleteI like how you rhymed, and the entire poem has an element of "Twas' the Night Before Christmas", especially the line where you say "the Tao may fly through your window tonight.":D
ReplyDeleteI really like the rhyming of the abab scheme for each of the stanzas. I feel like this adds a lot to the reading of the poem.
