When two men get lost in the woods
Neither of them reacts the same
The foolish man runs backward
Until he reaches something recognizable
The foolish man doesn’t have a plan
He is scared and runs away
The wise man stays
He looks around him and observes
The wise man takes note of the trail marks
And starts the adventure
The foolish man runs for days and nights
Once he finds home he is still running
He doesn’t know it
But everyone else does
Home finds the wise man
He defines what it is
When he works people see it
He defines the status quo
The foolish man runs into the wise man one day
In a rush as always
But never notices that
The wise man is successful
Yet never does any work
The wise man has learned to
Surf the waves of the universe’s flow
He’s learned to lead while being grounded
He’s learned to respect the people around him
Words sometimes contradict themselves
The foolish man stays confused
The wise man, however
Knows the flow of these words
And takes them in their truest form

I really enjoyed how it was directly about the Tao, but it wasn't necessarily mentioned in the poem. It is very subtle.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed how even though the subjects of your poem were very narrow, and the whole poem was about these two subjects, you really expanded on it and related it to the Tao without actually saying anything about it.
