Working Under Pressure

Work. Work. Work.
The same motions of typing
Hitting return.
typing.
Hitting return.
typing.
Hitting return.

Walls close
Floors shake
Suddenly shattering
As the frozen fragments of the brain pause
As if trying to find a moment of peace
In utter chaos.

We as humans
Pile the weight upon our shoulders
Until we feel suffocated by
Our own faults and guilts.

Instead
watch worry and responsibilities sail
Down a waterfall of stress dismissing the thoughts
Stopping and pressing restart in our brains
Needing time to

Stop. Breathe. Balance. Live.

  1. You have a very effective way of expressing the suffocation of thoughts in your writing itself, and I really like the repetition you used. Your image is also very creative.

  3. I like how relatable this poem is, especially to the lives of students in the Silicon Valley. It can really help people take a step back before going back to work.
